Transcat’s $13M SCM Metrology Acquisition Opens Latin America Market

Infleqtion Advances Quantum Commercialization

Transcat, Inc. has announced its entry into the Latin American market through the acquisition of SCM Metrology and Laboratories S.A.. The transaction, valued at approximately $13 million in cash, was completed on April 9, 2026, and includes customary adjustments and holdback provisions.

The move marks Transcat’s first operational footprint in Latin America, aligning with its broader strategy to expand in high-growth and highly regulated markets. By establishing a local presence, the company aims to better support its multinational customer base while unlocking new opportunities for distribution sales linked to service offerings.

SCM, a privately held company headquartered in Costa Rica, brings over two decades of experience in calibration services. The company has developed strong relationships with leading medical device and life sciences firms—many of which are already aligned with or targeted by Transcat.

Commenting on the development, Jaime Irick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Transcat, described the acquisition as a key milestone in the company’s global expansion journey. He noted that the partnership would combine SCM’s local expertise with Transcat’s scale, resources, and established calibration operating model to drive further growth.

SCM operates an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory located in the Coyol Free Trade Zone, a major hub for medical device manufacturing and exports in Costa Rica. The region has attracted significant foreign direct investment, supported by government incentives and ongoing infrastructure development.
