Kingston Digital, Inc. has introduced a new high-capacity variant of its data center SSD portfolio with the launch of a 30.72TB model in the DC3000ME Gen5 U.2 NVMe series. The announcement reflects increasing demand for higher storage density and performance in modern data center environments.
The DC3000ME is built on a PCIe 5.0 NVMe interface, delivering sequential read speeds of up to 14 GB/s and random read performance of up to 2.8 million input/output operations per second (IOPS). These specifications are designed to support compute-intensive workloads, including artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and cloud-based applications. The drive also maintains backward compatibility with PCIe 4.0, allowing deployment across existing server infrastructures while enabling future upgrades.
The introduction of the 30.72TB capacity expands the DC3000ME family, offering data center operators the ability to consolidate storage while maintaining high throughput. As data volumes continue to grow, particularly in AI-driven environments, storage systems are under pressure to deliver both scale and speed without compromising reliability.
The SSD incorporates 3D enterprise triple-level cell (eTLC) NAND technology, designed for enterprise-grade endurance and performance. It also features onboard power loss protection, which helps safeguard data integrity during unexpected power interruptions. In addition, the drive supports AES 256-bit encryption and TCG Opal 2.0 standards, addressing security and compliance requirements in enterprise deployments.
According to the company, the new capacity tier is aimed at organizations seeking to maximize storage density within constrained physical footprints. Higher-capacity drives can reduce the number of devices required per system, potentially improving efficiency in power consumption and rack utilization.
Industry demand for such solutions is being driven by rapid growth in data-intensive workloads. AI training models, large-scale analytics, and real-time processing applications require fast and reliable access to vast datasets. Storage infrastructure is therefore becoming a critical component in overall system performance.
The DC3000ME series is positioned to support these evolving requirements, combining high-speed data access with enterprise-level reliability and security features. All capacities in the series, including the 30.72TB model, are backed by a five-year limited warranty and technical support services.
