Nikon Rolls Out MV5X Laser Radar with Aeva Tech

Aeva’s Eve high-precision sensor technology is powering Nikon Corporation’s new APDIS MV5X Laser Radar system.

Aeva Inc. (Nasdaq: AEVA) and Nikon Corporation have announced the commercial deployment of Nikon’s next-generation APDIS MV5X Laser Radar system, powered by Aeva’s high-precision sensing technology. The milestone marks a key step in a multi-year production agreement between the two companies, targeting high-volume automated inspection and metrology applications.

The APDIS MV5X Laser Radar is designed as a non-contact measurement system for industrial environments, supporting automated inspection across sectors including automotive, aerospace, and energy. By integrating Aeva’s Eve sensor technology, the system is engineered to deliver higher measurement accuracy, faster data acquisition, and a more compact form factor, enabling manufacturers to scale inspection processes with improved efficiency.

The deployment reflects increasing demand for advanced metrology systems capable of supporting high-throughput production environments. As manufacturing processes become more complex and data-driven, precision measurement technologies are emerging as a critical enabler of quality control and operational performance.

Aeva’s sensing platform is based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology, enabling micron-level precision and improved resistance to environmental interference. This ensures consistent performance across a wide range of industrial conditions, where accuracy and reliability are critical.

Nikon’s Laser Radar systems are widely used for high-precision inspection of components, from individual parts to large-scale assemblies such as vehicle bodies and aircraft structures. The MV5X builds on this installed base with enhanced automation capabilities and next-generation sensing integration.
