Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has appointed Quy Nguyen as chief executive officer, effective immediately, placing a long-time company executive at the helm as demand for data center capacity accelerates with cloud adoption and the expansion of artificial intelligence workloads.
Nguyen had served as acting CEO since April, following the retirement of Niclas Sanfridsson. The appointment follows a succession process conducted by the company’s board, which said Nguyen’s experience across the business made him the preferred candidate for the permanent role.
Nguyen joined Colt DCS in 2016 and has held senior positions spanning sales and marketing, customer experience, design and delivery. Most recently, he served as chief sales officer, where he was responsible for strengthening the company’s commercial strategy and customer relationships.
Before joining Colt DCS, Nguyen held senior roles covering finance, strategy and general management. The company said that experience has given him exposure to business scaling and long-term growth across multiple functions.
As CEO, Nguyen will oversee Colt DCS’s global expansion as customers increase spending on digital infrastructure. The company currently has nearly 800 megawatts of capacity under development across key markets, putting it in a position to address rising requirements from hyperscalers and large enterprises.
“Quy has demonstrated exceptional leadership during a period of significant growth and transformation for Colt DCS,” said Tim Cohen, chairman of Colt DCS. He cited Nguyen’s understanding of customers, employees and the company’s operations, as well as his track record in executing its growth strategy.
The leadership change comes at a time when data center operators are facing a sharp increase in demand for capacity. AI workloads require significantly more computing power than many conventional enterprise applications, increasing requirements for electricity, cooling, connectivity and high-density infrastructure.
Colt DCS operates and develops data centers for global hyperscalers and large enterprises. Its current portfolio includes 15 operational data centers and 12 additional sites under development across nine cities in the United Kingdom, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
The company has more than 25 years of experience in the data center industry and has positioned its development strategy around providing secure, resilient and connected infrastructure with room for future capacity expansion.
Nguyen said the company would focus on expanding its global platform while maintaining its emphasis on customer relationships and operational execution.

Sustainability is also becoming a more significant consideration as data center operators expand. Increasing AI workloads are raising concerns about the electricity and water requirements associated with large computing facilities, putting pressure on operators to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Colt DCS said sustainability is a strategic priority and has established near- and long-term Science Based Targets to reduce emissions in line with the Science Based Targets initiative’s latest Net-Zero Standard.
The company’s expansion pipeline gives Nguyen an immediate growth agenda. With 12 sites under development and nearly 800 MW of capacity in development, execution will be central to the company’s ability to convert rising demand into operational capacity.
For data center providers, the challenge extends beyond adding physical space. Customers increasingly require reliable power, high-speed connectivity, scalable capacity and infrastructure capable of supporting increasingly dense AI computing environments.
Nguyen’s background across commercial, operational and customer-facing functions could give him a broad base from which to manage that expansion. His appointment also provides continuity after serving as acting CEO for several months.
Colt DCS now enters its next phase with an established development pipeline and a market being reshaped by AI and cloud computing.
