Solari Capital, a venture firm founded by AJ Scaramucci, has emerged from stealth after deploying $350 million across early-stage and late-stage ventures and company-building initiatives, with a focus on technologies that could reshape computing, semiconductors, robotics, advanced manufacturing and other parts of the physical economy.
The firm describes its investment thesis as “Programmable Reality,” centered on the idea that increasing computational power is enabling greater programmability across intelligence, biology, physical systems and finance. For the electronics industry, the thesis places semiconductors, hardware, robotics, materials and energy infrastructure within a broader technology transition driven by increasingly capable computing systems.
Computing Power Drives Hardware Opportunity
Solari argues that exponential improvements in computational capability are creating opportunities that extend beyond software. Its investment framework includes foundation models and compute under Programmable Intelligence, while Programmable Matter covers aerospace and space, energy, hardware, materials science, semiconductors, robotics and supply chains.
The emphasis on Programmable Matter puts electronics and semiconductor technologies closer to the center of the firm’s investment strategy. Increasing demand for AI computing is already driving requirements for advanced processors, memory, networking infrastructure, power systems and specialized semiconductor architectures.
Solari’s thesis extends that computing trend into physical systems, where increasingly capable electronics can enable machines to sense, process information and act autonomously.
Founder and Managing Partner AJ Scaramucci said the firm views the current technology transition as broader than a conventional technology cycle, arguing that intelligent systems could increasingly influence processes previously shaped primarily by natural or physical constraints.
The firm’s outlook also points to the compounding nature of technological development. Scaramucci cited autonomous driving and large language models as examples of technologies that developed over extended periods before reaching broader commercial visibility.
Four Investment Verticals
Solari organizes its investment strategy around four areas: Programmable Intelligence, Programmable Biology, Programmable Matter and Programmable Finance.
Programmable Intelligence includes foundation models, computing infrastructure, AI-native services, consumer AI, enterprise software and developer tools. Programmable Biology encompasses computational drug discovery, gene therapy, immunotherapy, health IT, longevity and biomanufacturing.
For electronics and industrial technology, Programmable Matter is particularly relevant. The vertical includes semiconductors, hardware, robotics, materials science, aerospace and space, defense, energy and supply-chain technologies.
Programmable Finance covers fintech, blockchain infrastructure and businesses positioned around monetary and financial risks.
Build, Invest and Convene
Solari operates through three activities: building companies, investing in founders and convening technology and investment leaders.
The firm builds companies from inception, with examples including Treasure Trove, a holding company focused on scarce cultural assets, and Radial Health, an interventional psychiatry company that has attracted backing from General Catalyst, Emerson Collective and BoxGroup.
On the investment side, Solari has backed companies including Northwood Space and General Medicine, supporting founders from early financing rounds through later stages.
The firm’s multi-stage approach allows it to participate across a company’s development rather than limiting its activity to a single stage of venture financing.
Network Supports Technology Expansion
Solari also co-hosts SALT, an investment forum with events in cities including New York, London, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. The platform brings together participants from technology, capital markets and global affairs and is intended to support portfolio companies through business development, recruiting and capital raising.
Peter Diamandis, founder and chairman of XPRIZE, said Scaramucci could play a significant role in technological transformation, while other investors and entrepreneurs highlighted his combination of investing and company-building experience.
For the electronics sector, Solari’s emergence comes as capital increasingly follows the convergence of AI, advanced computing and physical systems. Semiconductor technology, robotics, materials and energy infrastructure are becoming increasingly interconnected as computational capabilities move from data centers into vehicles, industrial equipment, autonomous machines and other physical environments.
