Liberty Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: GLIBA, GLIBK) has completed its corporate name change from GCI Liberty, Inc., marking a broader strategic shift toward expanding investments beyond its core telecommunications operations in Alaska.

The name change became effective at the close of business, while the company’s Nasdaq ticker symbols, GLIBA and GLIBK, remain unchanged. Its Alaska-based operating subsidiary will continue to use the GCI brand, which remains one of the state’s largest communications providers.

The rebranding reflects a transition at the parent-company level as Liberty Capital looks to broaden its investment focus while maintaining its existing telecommunications infrastructure business through GCI.

Ron Duncan, president and CEO of Liberty Capital, said the new corporate identity aligns with the broader Liberty tradition of pursuing shareholder value through diversified and innovative investment strategies. He added that the company will continue serving customers across Alaska under the GCI name while evolving its long-term investment direction.

GCI currently provides data, voice, and managed services to consumers and businesses across more than 200 Alaskan communities. The company said it has invested approximately $4.7 billion into Alaska network infrastructure and facilities over the past 47 years.

The business continues to focus on statewide network expansion and digital connectivity initiatives aimed at improving broadband access and reducing the digital divide across remote parts of Alaska.
