GCT Semiconductor Holding, Inc. (NYSE: GCTS), a designer and supplier of advanced 5G and 4G semiconductor solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Skylo Technologies to accelerate the development of next-generation satellite connectivity solutions.
Skylo operates a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) spanning 36 countries and covering approximately 70 million square kilometers. Under the collaboration, the two companies will jointly pursue chip and module certification aimed at enabling a new class of multi-use devices capable of seamless connectivity. The devices are designed to automatically connect to Skylo’s satellite network when terrestrial cellular coverage is unavailable, extending communication capabilities to remote and underserved regions.
John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT, said the partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to advancing the emerging 5G-to-space ecosystem. He noted that deeper collaboration with Skylo will help accelerate global satellite connectivity for device manufacturers and end users.
Skylo’s Vice President of Strategy Partnerships, Vijay Krishnan, described the agreement as a milestone toward seamless global coverage. By integrating GCT’s 3GPP-compliant silicon with Skylo’s satellite infrastructure, the companies aim to deliver standards-based IoT connectivity without reliance solely on terrestrial networks.
