Intel Corporation is expanding its cooperation with the Government of Vietnam as the country accelerates efforts to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor industry.
During a working session held on May 8, 2026, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong said the Ministry of Science and Technology would continue supporting Intel and companies within its supply chain in expanding high-tech investment activities in Vietnam. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the country’s ambitions of becoming a significant link in the global semiconductor value chain.
At the meeting, Intel outlined its strategic plans for Vietnam, including expanded investment initiatives, workforce development programs, and support for the growth of the country’s semiconductor ecosystem. The ministry acknowledged Intel’s long-standing contributions to Vietnam’s electronics and semiconductor sectors and reiterated its commitment to creating favorable conditions for future high-tech operations.
Deputy Minister Phuong proposed five key areas for deeper cooperation with Intel. These include expanding research, production, and investment activities in Vietnam; providing advisory support for a national semiconductor chip pilot production center; collaborating on the development of Vietnam’s first semiconductor chip manufacturing plant; strengthening semiconductor workforce training; and advancing the broader semiconductor ecosystem.
Both sides expressed a shared commitment to expanding cooperation in the next phase of development, with a focus on positioning Vietnam as an increasingly important player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
