Universal Vapor Jet Corporation (UVJC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Universal Display Corporation (NASDAQ: OLED), has launched NovaJet, the first commercial system based on its proprietary Universal Vapor Jet Printing (UVJP) platform. The system is designed to help researchers and manufacturers develop deposition processes and evaluate advanced materials before moving toward commercial production.

Available to order, NovaJet is ready for deployment at customer sites. Developed and built in Singapore, the platform deposits functional materials directly onto substrates, including silicon wafers, glass, polymers and metals. Its applications span semiconductor packaging, electronics, solar technologies, sensors and other advanced manufacturing fields.

The launch marks a commercialization step for UVJC, which aims to support customers from early-stage materials research through process development and manufacturing implementation.

“As industries pursue increasingly advanced materials and device architectures, bridging the gap between innovation and manufacturing has become essential,” said Chandran Nair, CEO of UVJC. He said NovaJet was designed to help researchers, engineers and manufacturers develop materials and processes and accelerate their path toward commercial production.

UVJC is showcasing the system at the WESEMiBAY Semiconductor Ecosystem Conference and Expo in Shenzhen, China. At Booth 8G03, visitors can view coated substrates and printed samples produced on the company’s production system in Singapore, alongside a scale model of NovaJet.

Solvent-Free Deposition Platform

NovaJet uses UVJC’s proprietary UVJP technology to deposit functional materials without solvents, masks or conventional lithography. The approach is intended to simplify thin-film development by bringing multiple stages of deposition and process experimentation onto a single platform.

The system is designed to help materials scientists and process engineers assess material performance, optimize deposition parameters and validate applications in a laboratory environment before advancing toward larger-scale manufacturing.

Moving materials from research into commercial production can require extensive process development, application qualification and production optimization. UVJC positions NovaJet as a tool for addressing these challenges by providing a flexible environment for testing materials and refining processes before committing to manufacturing scale-up.

After a process has been validated, the company can work with customers to transfer it into production. Depending on application requirements, this may involve UVJP process and application intellectual property, as well as larger-scale, automated or customized equipment.

Potential future configurations include integrated systems, roll-to-roll production equipment and large-area manufacturing platforms. UVJC did not provide specific timelines for these systems.

Applications Across Advanced Manufacturing

The platform is intended for applications that require precise, digitally patterned material deposition. These include semiconductor advanced packaging, perovskite-based solar technologies, biomedical and pharmaceutical applications, surface-energy modification, and sensors and monitoring systems.

NovaJet operates without heating the substrate, a feature that could make it suitable for temperature-sensitive materials and delicate surfaces. Its ability to deposit materials on non-planar substrates also expands the range of structures that researchers can explore.

The system can support multiple materials and graded compositions within a single process step. This capability could help researchers investigate complex material combinations and device architectures without relying on multiple conventional processing stages.

For semiconductor applications, advanced packaging is one potential area of use, as manufacturers explore new materials and structures to improve device integration and performance. However, UVJC has not disclosed specific customer deployments, production volumes or commercial performance results for NovaJet.

Path Toward Commercial Production

The launch extends UVJC’s efforts to commercialize vapor-based printing technology beyond research and development. By offering a customer-ready system, the company aims to give researchers and manufacturers a platform to assess whether UVJP processes can meet the technical requirements of their applications before investing in production equipment.

The longer-term opportunity will depend on process validation, compatibility with customer materials, manufacturing throughput and the economics of scaling the technology.

UVJC has not disclosed NovaJet pricing or expected sales volumes.
