Everspin Technologies Inc. has announced a long-term manufacturing agreement with Microchip Technology to expand its onshore production capacity for MRAM and Tunnel Magnetoresistive (TMR) sensor products.

The agreement spans an initial 10-year period, with options for extension. It is aimed at strengthening supply continuity and supporting growing demand for MRAM solutions. As part of the collaboration, Everspin will establish a “copy exact (plus)” manufacturing line at Microchip’s fabrication facility in Oregon. This line will replicate and enhance the company’s existing production setup in Chandler, Arizona.

Everspin will transfer its proprietary magnetic technology and manufacturing processes to the new facility while retaining full ownership of its intellectual property. Microchip will provide foundry services and manufacturing capacity, enabling Everspin to scale production without compromising control over its core technology.

Sanjeev Aggarwal, President and CEO of Everspin, said the partnership supports the next phase of MRAM adoption. He noted that customers are increasingly seeking stable, long-term supply and higher-performance memory solutions. The expanded manufacturing footprint is expected to address these requirements while advancing the company’s MRAM roadmap.

Microchip also highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration. Michael Finley, Senior Vice President of Fab Operations, said the company is pleased to support Everspin with its scalable manufacturing infrastructure in Oregon.

The agreement is expected to deliver multiple benefits. These include increased wafer capacity, a second onshore production source, and improved supply continuity for customers. It also supports ongoing research and development efforts aimed at enhancing MRAM performance for next-generation applications. Additionally, the facility will offer International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliant wafer processing capabilities.

Everspin will continue operations at its existing Chandler facility, which serves as a benchmark for the new production line. The company plans to leverage its two decades of manufacturing experience to ensure a smooth transition and timely ramp-up.

The first products from the collaboration are expected to ship in the second half of 2027.
