Parade Unveils PS8651V for Automotive Display Connectivity

ParadeTech_SanJose

Parade Technologies has announced the launch of its PS8651V DP 2.1a/HBR3 1:2 Multi-Stream Transport (MST) hub controller, expanding its portfolio of high-speed interface solutions for automotive, accessories, and video display applications.

The newly introduced PS8651V is designed to enable DisplayPort (DP) and embedded DisplayPort (eDP) port expansion, addressing the growing demand for advanced display connectivity in next-generation automotive infotainment systems and high-performance display setups. It complements the company’s existing MST hub lineup, including the PS8650 DP 2.1a/UHBR20 1:4 controller.

The PS8651V complies with VESA DisplayPort 2.1a and eDP 1.5 specifications, supporting link rates of up to 8.1Gbps per lane across four lanes. It supports both Multi-Stream Transport (MST) and Single Stream Transport (SST) modes on its receiver and transmitters, allowing flexible configurations such as multi-display output or single video splitting. The controller also supports lane count and link rate conversion, as well as VESA DSC 1.2a decode and compressed video pass-through.

Targeted for automotive environments, the device is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualified, supporting an ambient temperature range from -40°C to +105°C. Its low-power design reduces thermal management requirements, eliminating the need for additional heat sinks—an important consideration in compact vehicle systems.

The PS8651V enables flexible DP and eDP connectivity, supporting applications such as in-vehicle entertainment systems, ultra-wide pillar-to-pillar displays, docking stations, and external display accessories. It also integrates seamlessly with Parade’s broader ecosystem of display solutions, including touch controllers, timing controllers, and retimers used in automotive infotainment systems.

According to the company, the addition of the PS8651V strengthens its DP 2.1a product portfolio, offering customers scalable and design-friendly solutions for complex display architectures.

The controller is now mass production ready and is available in a compact 102-pin QFN package, measuring 9.5mm by 13.5mm, supporting integration into space-constrained designs.
