FS is expanding its enterprise campus networking portfolio with the upcoming S6500, S6300 and S6000 modular switch series, targeting core-layer deployments across different network scales.
The new switches are designed to strengthen FS’s three-tier campus network architecture as organizations manage growing numbers of users, connected devices, wireless access points and bandwidth-intensive applications.
Modular Switching Targets Growing Campus Networks
Campus networks increasingly require core and aggregation infrastructure that can scale with traffic while maintaining availability and operational efficiency. Modular switches can allow organizations to expand port capacity and services without replacing entire systems as requirements change.
FS said the three new series address different deployment requirements, ranging from large-scale, high-performance enterprise environments to smaller organizations seeking incremental network expansion.
The S6500 series is designed for high-bandwidth core and aggregation environments. Built around Broadcom switching chips and a distributed architecture, the series offers switching capacity ranging from 56 Tbps to 448 Tbps, depending on the model and configuration.
The platform supports high-density line cards for 1G, 10G, 40G and 100G interfaces. Configurations can support up to 576 10G SFP+ ports, 72 40G QSFP+ ports or 72 100G QSFP28 ports. The S6500 also supports up to 160,000 IPv4 routing entries for large-scale Layer 3 routing requirements.
S6300 and S6000 Address Different Network Scales
The S6300 series is positioned as a flexible chassis platform for large campus and enterprise networks. It supports high-density 1G, 10G and 40G line cards, alongside virtualization configurations designed for different network architectures and distance requirements.
Support for MPLS VPN and IPv4/IPv6 routing allows the S6300 to support enterprise and industry network interconnection as well as multi-service network deployments.
The S6000 series focuses on network expansion and investment protection for small and medium-sized enterprises and other growing environments. Its integrated management and service module architecture allows service modules inserted into available slots to also perform management functions.
FS said the approach can eliminate the need for a separate management module in certain configurations, improving slot utilization and simplifying deployment. The modular design also enables organizations to combine different line cards and increase port capacity as network requirements evolve.
Cloud-Based Management Adds Operational Controls
All three series support cloud-based management capabilities intended to simplify network deployment and administration. Features include batch configuration, network visualization, monitoring, alarms and multi-role administration.
These functions are designed to provide centralized operational visibility as organizations expand networks across multiple devices and locations.
The S6500, S6300 and S6000 will complement FS’s existing enterprise and SME switching portfolios once officially launched.
