OptConnect, a provider of managed wireless connectivity solutions, has acquired Canadian-based DPL Wireless as part of a strategy to strengthen its engineering capabilities and expand intelligence-driven services across global IoT markets.
The acquisition brings together two established players in cellular connectivity and device intelligence, with a combined focus on delivering more resilient, AI-enabled connectivity platforms for ATMs and other IoT deployments. OptConnect said the integration will support the development of a more intelligent, autonomous connectivity offering by combining its global managed services with DPL’s expertise in AI-driven insights and device-level intelligence.
Chris Baird, Chief Executive Officer of OptConnect, said the transaction will allow the company to deliver broader capabilities and higher reliability to customers. “By combining DPL’s sophisticated AI insights and autonomous actions with OptConnect’s global IoT managed connectivity, we aim to strengthen reliability, expand innovation, and deliver a more complete solution for customers who depend on us for the highest uptime possible,” Baird said.
The deal also consolidates two complementary technology platforms—OptConnect’s ConnectIQ and DPL’s Hercules AI—creating a foundation for expanded product development, deeper inventory, scaled logistics, and enhanced intelligence. OptConnect said the combined infrastructure will support future development of the Hercules AI roadmap, with a focus on proactive monitoring, automation, and performance optimization across large IoT fleets.
Marc Albert, Managing Director of DPL Wireless, said the partnership provides the scale and resources needed to accelerate ongoing innovation. He added that the cultural alignment between the two companies and their shared emphasis on customer outcomes were key factors in the transaction.
The acquisition follows OptConnect’s earlier purchases of Premier Wireless Solutions, M2M DataGlobal, and Capestone, further expanding its global footprint and reinforcing its position as a managed wireless connectivity provider serving multiple industries.
DPL Wireless will continue operating as a division of OptConnect from its headquarters in Moncton, New Brunswick, with a satellite office in Rothesay. Albert will remain with the organization as Managing Director of the DPL business unit, ensuring continuity for customers and partners as the integration progresses.
