DivX and Telechips have renewed their IC technology licensing agreement, resolving a previously disclosed contractual dispute and restoring long-standing collaboration between the two companies. Under the renewed agreement, Telechips will continue to support DivX video playback across its semiconductor portfolio, including chips used in consumer electronics and in-car entertainment systems.
Telechips, a Seoul-based fabless semiconductor company, has been a long-time licensee of DivX technology, integrating DivX’s proprietary video solutions into its integrated circuits supplied to device manufacturers globally. The renewal ensures continued compatibility with DivX video standards in selected Telechips products, aligning with customer requirements in automotive and consumer electronics markets.
“Telechips continues to support widely adopted video technologies across its semiconductor solutions. The renewed license allows us to maintain compatibility with DivX technology in selected products, in line with customer and market requirements,” said Stanley Kim, Vice President and Head of Telechips’ Automotive Business Unit.
DivX, which has spent 25 years developing digital video technologies, remains a widely recognized standard for high-quality video playback across multiple screens and devices. The company licenses its technology to partners worldwide, supporting a broad ecosystem of digital media products.
“We remain committed to preserving the value of our DivX brand and technology licensing program for all licensed partners and are pleased to have reached this agreement with Telechips,” said DivX Chief Executive Officer Noel Egnatios.
Founded in 2000, DivX continues to invest in research and development, expanding its portfolio of video technologies and licensing them to semiconductor and device manufacturers globally.
