Kinetic Technologies has completed an agreement under which Cyient Semiconductors will acquire a majority stake in the company for $85 million. The transaction marks a strategic step to strengthen Kinetic’s global footprint and expand its capabilities in power management and protection technologies.

The deal comes amid rising demand for efficient power solutions across industries. Sectors such as AI data centres, communications, industrial automation, edge computing, and automotive systems are driving this growth. Kinetic, known for its expertise in power management and protection ICs, is positioning itself to capture these opportunities.

With Cyient’s backing, Kinetic plans to accelerate development of next-generation power management, high-performance analog, and mixed-signal technologies. The company will also expand its portfolio in power conversion, display power, protection, and interface solutions. These technologies are becoming essential as electronic systems grow more complex and performance requirements increase.

A key advantage of the partnership is access to India’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem. Through Cyient Semiconductors, Kinetic will tap into a strong pool of engineering talent, manufacturing capabilities, and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) partners. This is expected to improve design flexibility and help the company scale operations more efficiently, while maintaining its standards of quality and reliability.

Kinetic’s leadership team and engineering operations will continue under the existing structure. This ensures continuity for customers and partners. At the same time, the company will benefit from Cyient’s broader semiconductor platform and global reach.

Kin Shum, Chief Executive Officer of Kinetic Technologies, said the partnership strengthens the company’s ability to scale globally. He noted that it will expand engineering capacity, support manufacturing initiatives in India, and accelerate the company’s research and development roadmap.

Suman Narayan, Chief Executive Officer of Cyient Semiconductors, said the investment aligns with the company’s ambition to build a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem. He added that Kinetic’s expertise in power and protection ICs complements Cyient’s strengths in silicon design and product development.
