SkyWater Technology (NASDAQ: SKYT), a U.S.-based semiconductor foundry specializing in advanced process development, manufacturing, and packaging services for aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, and computing applications, announced that its stockholders have approved the company’s previously announced merger agreement with IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), a developer of quantum computing hardware, software, and networking systems.
The approval was secured during a special meeting held earlier today and marks a significant step toward IonQ’s planned acquisition of SkyWater.
The final voting results are expected to be disclosed through a Current Report on Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The transaction is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The acquisition underscores growing alignment between semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and the expanding quantum computing ecosystem.
