Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation, a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation (TYO: 6502), has expanded its portfolio of quad-channel standard digital isolators with four new products designed for industrial equipment, targeting lower power consumption and improved reliability.
The new additions to the DCL34xx0B series are DCL340L0B, DCL340H0B, DCL342L0B, and DCL342H0B. The devices are intended for applications including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), actuators and inverters.
Industrial equipment increasingly requires electrical isolation to protect circuits operating at different voltage levels and prevent failures caused by electrical noise. As automation systems become more compact and power efficient, demand is also rising for smaller, low-power isolation devices with longer operating life.
Toshiba Electronic Devices said the new products consume a typical current of 0.2mA per channel while supporting communication speeds of up to 25Mbps. They are housed in an industry-standard SSOP16 package for compact system designs.
The devices use the company’s proprietary magnetic coupling isolation technology together with a newly developed signal transmission circuit. According to the company, the design reduces power consumption while maintaining stable data transmission.
The digital isolators have a minimum isolation voltage rating of 3,000Vrms. They support a supply voltage range of 2.25V to 5.5V and operate across temperatures from -40°C to 125°C, making them suitable for industrial environments.
The DCL340L0B and DCL340H0B feature four forward channels for unidirectional signal transmission. The DCL342L0B and DCL342H0B provide two forward and two reverse channels, enabling bidirectional communication.
The new products complement the DCL341L0B and DCL341H0B, which are already in mass production with a three-forward, one-reverse channel configuration for interfaces such as Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).
Together, the DCL34xx0B series offers multiple channel configurations for multi-channel I/O interface applications, allowing equipment manufacturers to select devices based on system requirements.
Toshiba Electronic Devices also offers the DCL54xx01A Series and DCL52xx00 Series for high-speed industrial communications, as well as the DCM34xx01 Series and DCM32xx00 Series for automotive applications.
