Liberty Energy (NYSE: LBRT) and PowerBridge have formed a strategic joint venture to develop large-scale powered data centre campuses, beginning with a planned 2-gigawatt (GW) digital campus in West Texas aimed at supporting the growing power demands of artificial intelligence and hyperscale computing.
The partnership combines PowerBridge’s digital campus development platform with the power generation, energy management and operational capabilities of Liberty Power Innovations (LPI), a Liberty Energy company. The companies said the venture is designed to accelerate deployment of AI-ready infrastructure while addressing one of the industry’s biggest challenges: access to reliable electricity.
Demand for AI data centres has surged over the past two years, driving a parallel need for new power generation capacity. Developers are increasingly seeking integrated solutions that combine land, connectivity and dedicated power infrastructure to reduce deployment timelines.
Under the agreement, PowerBridge will provide pad-ready powered campuses and a regional fibre conduit network to support large-scale computing facilities. LPI will be responsible for designing, developing and operating modular power generation systems, along with power quality management and grid optimisation technologies.
The companies said the joint venture will offer customers an integrated approach that combines site infrastructure with dedicated energy supply, reducing uncertainty around project execution.
Its first project will focus on PowerBridge’s Alpha Digital Campus in West Texas. The planned development will support up to 2GW of capacity, with the initial phase expected to include more than 300 megawatts (MW) of power generation. The first electricity delivery is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027, with additional deployment planned through the first half of 2028.
The partners said the campus is being developed with an emphasis on workforce development, community engagement and responsible resource management, alongside infrastructure expansion.

He said the partnership combines PowerBridge’s campus development platform with Liberty’s power generation capabilities to create a model that can be replicated across future gigawatt-scale developments in West Texas.
Liberty Energy Chief Executive Officer Ron Gusek said power availability has become a critical factor in large-scale data centre development as AI workloads continue to grow.
He said customers increasingly want partners capable of delivering power generation, energy management and campus infrastructure through a single development model. The collaboration, he added, is intended to help customers secure reliable power more quickly while supporting expanding AI infrastructure.
The joint venture also establishes a framework for future projects beyond the Alpha Digital Campus. The companies plan to pursue additional gigawatt-scale powered campuses across PowerBridge’s broader development portfolio, targeting hyperscale cloud providers, AI operators and other large industrial power users.
The agreement remains subject to the completion of commercial documentation, ancillary agreements and required regulatory approvals.
