D-Wave Adds Technology Finance Veteran Kevan Krysler to Board

Kevan P. Krysler

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: QBTS) has appointed technology finance executive Kevan P. Krysler to its Board of Directors and Audit Committee as the quantum computing company continues to expand its commercial operations.

Krysler currently serves as chief financial officer of Carbon Robotics, a privately held company focused on physical AI and agricultural robotics. He brings experience across public and private technology companies, with a background spanning financial operations, corporate reporting, growth strategy, risk management and governance.

Before joining Carbon Robotics, Krysler was chief financial officer of Everpure Inc. (NYSE: P), a publicly traded enterprise data storage company. Earlier, he served as senior vice president of finance and chief accounting officer at VMware Inc. and was a partner in KPMG LLP’s Silicon Valley technology practice.

His appointment adds financial and governance expertise to D-Wave’s board as the company works to expand adoption of quantum computing. D-Wave describes itself as a dual-platform quantum computing company, offering both annealing and gate-model systems, alongside software and services.

Krysler said D-Wave is entering a period of growth as quantum computing becomes increasingly relevant to enterprise technology. He said his focus on financial strategy, scaling technology businesses, risk management and governance would support the company’s next phase.

Sharon Holt, chair of the D-Wave board, said Krysler’s experience with capital allocation and operating discipline would complement the board’s existing expertise as the company pursues its growth strategy.

D-Wave CEO Dr. Alan Baratz said Krysler’s experience would be valuable as the company scales adoption of its production-grade annealing quantum computing technology and advances its dual-platform strategy.

D-Wave’s annealing systems are designed for optimization problems, while the company is also developing gate-model quantum computing capabilities. The dual-platform approach gives the company exposure to different quantum computing architectures as the technology continues to develop.

The board appointment comes as quantum computing companies increasingly focus on moving beyond research demonstrations toward commercial applications. D-Wave has positioned its annealing technology around practical optimization use cases, while continuing development of gate-model systems intended to broaden its technology portfolio.

Krysler’s addition to the Audit Committee also places his financial and risk-management experience directly within the company’s oversight structure. His background in public-company finance and accounting could be particularly relevant as D-Wave navigates the financial requirements associated with scaling a technology business in an emerging market.

The company said the appointment is effective immediately. Krysler will serve alongside D-Wave’s existing directors as the company works to expand commercial adoption, advance its product roadmap and build its position in the developing quantum computing market.
