EdgeCortix has signed a multi-year, multimillion-dollar Teaming Agreement with Kawasaki Heavy Industries to advance the development of next-generation AI-enabled aerospace and defense systems.
The agreement establishes an initial program worth several million U.S. dollars in aggregate value and covering the 2026–2028 period, the companies said. It brings together Kawasaki’s aerospace and defense systems expertise with EdgeCortix’s semiconductor and software technologies focused on energy-efficient artificial intelligence processing at the edge.
Under the agreement, the companies will work on technology development, feasibility studies, system integration and prototype platform development. The program will explore how edge AI computing can improve intelligence, adaptability and operational resilience across future aerial defense platforms.
Kawasaki and EdgeCortix also intend to expand the scope of their collaboration as technical milestones are achieved and additional development and deployment opportunities emerge.
EdgeCortix will contribute its chiplet-based AI computing platform, along with its MERA compiler and software framework and related AI acceleration technologies. The company’s technologies are designed to deliver AI processing closer to where data is generated and operational decisions are made.
This approach is particularly relevant to aerospace and defense applications, where computing systems must operate within strict power, thermal, latency and reliability constraints. Processing AI workloads at the edge can reduce dependence on remote computing infrastructure while supporting faster processing of data generated by mission systems.
The collaboration will evaluate how these capabilities can be integrated into aerial defense platforms and other mission-critical systems.

The Teaming Agreement expands the relationship between the two companies and creates a framework for joint development and potential deployment of AI-enabled aerospace and defense technologies.
For EdgeCortix, the program represents a significant commercial milestone for its edge AI semiconductor platform and expands its involvement in aerospace and defense applications. Kawasaki, meanwhile, will have access to EdgeCortix’s specialized AI computing architecture and software technologies for evaluation within future system designs.
The initial program runs through 2028, with both companies expected to assess further opportunities as development work progresses.
