Movandi Unveils 60GHz Platform With 5Gbps+ Wireless Speeds

WNC, Movandi Join Hands to Deliver Innovative Dual-Band 5G mmWare Smart Repeaters

Movandi has introduced a 60GHz wireless connectivity platform designed to support the growing bandwidth and latency requirements of physical artificial intelligence (AI), fixed wireless access (FWA) and network infrastructure. Built around its MV6055 60GHz transceiver, the platform delivers peak data rates exceeding 5 Gbps and supports line-of-sight links beyond one kilometer.

The semiconductor company is targeting equipment manufacturers developing wireless systems for robots, drones, autonomous machines, broadband access and network backhaul. The MV6055 transceiver is currently sampling with key partners, Movandi said.

The launch comes as physical AI systems increasingly rely on cameras and sensors to collect data for perception, navigation and decision-making. Processing these workloads entirely onboard can increase power consumption, hardware costs and system complexity. Sending all data to cloud infrastructure, meanwhile, can introduce latency.

Movandi’s platform is designed to support a hybrid architecture in which machines retain safety-critical control and immediate decision-making capabilities while offloading selected, compute-intensive AI workloads to nearby edge infrastructure or cloud services over high-speed wireless links.

“Physical AI is transforming what wireless connectivity must deliver,” said Maryam Rofougaran, CEO and co-founder of Movandi. She said the platform connects intelligent machines to edge AI infrastructure while also supporting multi-gigabit broadband and network backhaul.

Platform Targets Multiple Wireless Markets

Beyond physical AI, Movandi is positioning the platform for fixed wireless broadband deployments where extending fiber infrastructure is expensive or impractical.

Its peak throughput above 5 Gbps and line-of-sight range exceeding one kilometer could support high-capacity wireless connections between network access points and customer premises. Actual performance will depend on deployment conditions, antenna configurations and system design.

For network backhaul, the platform is designed to provide wireless links between access networks, edge infrastructure and core networks. Such connections can offer an alternative where installing fiber is difficult, helping operators add capacity without undertaking new wired infrastructure projects.

The platform covers the 57–70 GHz frequency range and supports multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) configurations. Other features include low-power transmit and receive operation, application-specific antenna options and system software.

Modular Design Supports Different Applications

Movandi said its modular architecture allows manufacturers to configure the same semiconductor platform for different applications by combining the transceiver with appropriate antenna arrangements and system designs. The company expects this approach to reduce integration complexity and development time for equipment makers.

The architecture also provides a foundation for future integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) capabilities. ISAC systems combine wireless data transmission with environmental sensing, potentially allowing wireless nodes to detect, track and map their surroundings while exchanging information with edge or cloud AI systems.

Movandi has not disclosed specific timelines for commercial products using the new platform or provided independent performance comparisons against competing solutions.

Availability and Deployment Outlook

The MV6055 transceiver is sampling with selected partners, marking an early stage in the product’s commercial development. Manufacturers will need to evaluate the platform’s performance, power consumption and integration requirements within their intended systems before bringing products to market.
