DIOD Expands Portfolio with Low RDS(ON) Load Switch for ADAS Systems

Diodes Introduces Compact Hall Sensor for Automotive Systems

Diodes Incorporated has expanded its load switch portfolio with the launch of the DML1012ALDSQ, a smart, automotive-compliant N-channel MOSFET designed for power rail control in advanced vehicle electronics.

The device targets automotive applications including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment units, and digital display clusters. It is designed to support reliable power sequencing across multiple subsystem voltage domains, reflecting the growing complexity of modern vehicle electronics architectures.

The DML1012ALDSQ operates across an input voltage range of 0.8V to 4V, enabling integration across a variety of low-voltage power rails commonly used in automotive electronic control units. It features an ultra-low drain-source on-resistance (RDS(ON)) of 8 milliohms, which helps reduce conduction losses and heat generation during operation.

Thermal efficiency is supported by a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 8°C/W, allowing the device to deliver up to 6A of continuous output current. The design also incorporates low quiescent current to improve efficiency during standby modes, an important requirement for power-sensitive automotive systems.

A key feature of the device is its enable control pin, which allows microcontroller-based systems to manage precise power sequencing. This supports system-level coordination in complex automotive platforms where multiple subsystems must be powered in a controlled sequence.

The device integrates several protection and control features aimed at reducing external component requirements. It includes inrush current control through output voltage slew rate management, helping improve system stability during startup conditions.

It also features integrated quick output discharge, ensuring that downstream circuits are fully discharged during shutdown. In addition, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) functionality prevents operation when supply voltage drops below safe thresholds, enhancing system reliability under fluctuating power conditions.

These integrated features are intended to reduce printed circuit board (PCB) footprint and simplify system design compared to discrete implementations, supporting faster development cycles for automotive electronics manufacturers.

The DML1012ALDSQ is offered in a compact V-DFN3030-8 package measuring 3mm by 3mm. Pricing starts at $0.17 in 1,000-unit quantities. A standard-grade variant, the DML1012ALDS, is also available for industrial and commercial applications.
